Osman Yusuf Verde (left) from Louroujina and Baraski Kosta (right) from Nisu. This photo was taken in Dhali in about 1934 depicting two young Cypriots training to become tailors. Their trainer was a well known tailor Yeroraftis from Dhali. Osman Yusuf Verde now living in Nicosia is enjoying his old age life with his wife, two sons, daughter-in-laws, and two granddaughters. Osman Yusuf Verde loves, cares and respects all his family and friends. He served as a sergeant for the British Army during the Second World War. He takes great pride and pleasure in talking about his life and adventures during his military service. Together with many other Cypriots he joined the British Army in 1940 and was released in 1946. First he was sent to Egypt, then to Greece, to Crete, to Egypt again, to Syria, to Palestine and from there back to Cyprus.
