The Church of St.Epiphanios

From the book Historic Cyprus by Rupert Gunnis:"On a hillock above the village is built the small fifteenth-century Church of St.Epiphanios, which was unhappily restored in 1864, when the painted interior was whitewashed. On the dome can still be seen the four equidistant standard sockets."

After the Greeks left the village due to clashes between the Turkish and Greek Cypriots in 1950s, this church was left unattended. The village priest used to come back to the village from time to time and look after this church, but after his death no one ever visited it. In time t fell into pieces. This photograph depicts The Church of St.Epiphanios in ruins before it was demolished during the clashes between the Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots in 1950s.
